New FLICS Board

A California film coalition announced Tuesday that Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commissioner Cassandra Hesseltine was elected to serve as board president for 2016.

According to the release, Film Liaisons In California Statewide (FLICS) is a coalition of 42 regional film offices that work together to enhance the state’s status as the capital of film and television production.

“I am proud to carry on the tradition of FLICS and help grow our organization into the future,” Hesseltine said in a press release. “It’s an honor to be selected by my peers for this position.”

The 2016 FLICS leadership team also includes board vice president Santa Barbara Film Commissioner Geoff Alexander, board secretary Mono Film Commissioner Alicia Vennos and board treasurer Long Beach Film Commissioner Tasha Day. The board’s immediate past president was Orange County Film Commissioner Janice Arrington.

FLICS was founded in 1988 to heighten the level of professionalism and visibility of California’s regional film offices by developing quality standards, guidelines, education and marketing resources, according to the release. Key initiatives for 2016 include development of new technology platforms that streamline how the production industry works with local jurisdictions as well as finds and secures locations.

After playing a key role advocating passage of California’s expanded film and television tax credit program, the release states that FLICS and its 2016 leadership team are focused on finding new ways to ensure California remains the first and best choice for production.

“We fought hard to expand California’s tax credit program, and we’re now able to focus on our core mission of helping the production industry access everything it needs here at home,” Hesseltine said. “FLICS is the industry’s one-stop resource for connecting with film commissions across the state.”
