Local Filmmaker's Night: Maria Matteoli

Matteoli was born and raised in Eureka, California. She studied acting at the Actors Center of San Francisco, and later in New York City. Since earning her degree in film production at HSU, she has written, directed and produced nearly fifty short films, online and commercial videos, campaign documentaries, and music videos. Her experiences living abroad in Switzerland and Italy have greatly inspired her romantic style of work. She is currently in the final stages of post-production on her feature, The Wine of Summer, which she shot in Barcelona, Los Angeles and in Eureka this past fall.  The Wine of Summer stars Elsa Pataky (Snakes on a Plane, Fast Five), Ethan Peck (Gossip Girl, Ten Things I Hate About You), and Academy Award winner Marcia Gay Harden (Pollock).

Local Filmmakers Night will take place Friday, March 30 at 7 p.m. at the Lecture Hall on the Eureka High School Campus.  As usual, the night will consist of several screenings of the filmmakers work including a sneak peak at The Wine of Summer trailers, a Q & A, and Local Movie Trivia with prizes from Spotlight, La Dulce Video, and Figueiredo’s Video.  A reception where you can meet the filmmaker will follow sponsored by Wildberries Marketplace, Cassaro’s Catering, Brett Shuler Fine Catering, Lost Coast Brewery, Los Bagels, Old Town Coffee and Chocolates.  Cost of the event is $5 and tickets will be sold at the door.  This event is for all ages.   For more information contact Access Humboldt at (707) 476-1798 or the Film Commission at (707) 825-7600 or visit the sites www.accesshumboldt.net and www.filmhumboldt.org.
