Film Commission

The Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commission is here to help with your production needs and our services are provided free of charge.

We are recognized by the County of Humboldt, County of Del Norte, and the California Film Commission as the official advocate for filming in Humboldt and Del Norte, California. We are also a member of the organization Film Liaisons in California Statewide (FLICS), Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI), and Location Manager Guild International (LMGI).

The Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commission is a dedicated office that honors diversity, inclusion, and equity.  In addition, the Film Commission acknowledges it resides on the unceded lands of the Wiyot people.

Cassandra became the region's Film Commissioner in fall of 2010. Prior to the role of Film Commissioner, she worked in film & theater. Cassandra is a past president of Film Liaisons In California Film (FLICS) as well as an Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) certified film commissioner. As Film Commissioner, Cassandra believes with capable, experienced crew base, accommodating vendors, and film-friendly locations, the region can shine as “the place to film.”

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commission 501(c)(3) is a not-for-profit organization. It is self-governed by a board of directors:

  • Ann Warner, President
  • Chris Harris, Treasurer
  • Steve Watson, Secretary
  • Marnie Atkins, Board Member
  • Klark Swan, Board Member
  • Susan Seaman, Board Member
  • Heidi Groszmann, Board Member

Board meetings are currently held monthly, fourth Wednesday of the month (with exceptions), at 5:30pm.  In person, zoom, or hybrid meetings are determined based on schedule and is at the discretion of the staff and employees per the health of the county.

Show your film support by purchasing one of our Film Commission t-shirts, hoodies, and/or zip-up sweatshirts. All three items come in varying sizes and feature our logo on black fabric. Our Film Commission logo contains art work from local artist, John Wesa.

VOLUNTEERS / INTERNS

The Film Commission relies on volunteers and interns to help staff the office and work on creative projects. If this is something you think you have a few hours a week for or you want to work on a specific project, contact us to see if there any openings at this time.
